Area Economic Development Corporation

Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU), a private, nonprofit corporation, has received international acclaim serving as the business development arm for the city of Battle Creek. BCU is an enduring alliance of public, private and community leaders, guiding the nation’s first and most successful base conversion into Michigan’s largest modern industrial park – the 3,000-acre Fort Custer Industrial Park. Battle Creek Unlimited also markets the Central Business District. It has been said that the signature of a community is the condition of its central business district. Downtown Battle Creek now emerges as the major service corridor of the community. Entertainment, specialty shops, corporate headquarters, professional and financial services, and government offices reside in the central business district. Staff is onsite to maintain a viable, clean and safe downtown community.

Life-Long Learning/Trades & Training

The people, instructors, and facilities in Battle Creek ensure access and training for every business or personal need.

The Regional Manufacturing Technology Center, also designated by the State of Michigan as an “M-TEC,” is operated by Kellogg Community College, and offers just-in-time training in ten industrial skilled trades programs. An open-entry/open-exit enrollment option allows students to enroll at their capability level, and attend during whatever hours they find convenient. Internet-based learning supplements the on-site academic program for those who wish instruction at home or in the workplace.

If none of the M-TEC programs meet your needs, customized training will be designed to your specifications.

Legacy Scholars

Legacy Scholars is an initiative developed as part of the W.K Kellogg Foundation's 75th Anniversary. TheW.K. Kellogg Foundation established a $4 million endowment to help support post secondary educational attainment for Battle Creek area youth. Legacy Scholars is available to Battle Creek Public Schools and Lakeview School District students to graduate from high school and obtain a college degree or certificate.

From large health systems to smaller hospitals and clinics, the Battle Creek health care community has a facility that meets your needs. An urgent care facility on Beckley Road and an on-site emergency room at Bronson Battle Creek bring services to your own neighborhood. There are more than 160 medical and dental practitioners in the Battle Creek community.
